Configuring/Troubleshooting Dlink, Netgear, and Zyxel ISDN routers.

These routers use a similar interface. Follow these steps.

1) Telnet into the router (ip address should be the default gateway/router address).

2) For the password, type 1234.
3) Go to 4 - Internet Access Setup
4) For the ISP IP Addr field, leave blank
5) For Primary phone number, put in an ISDN pop
6) For Secondary phone number, put in the same pop
7) For My Login Name, put in ELN/username
8) For My Password, put in user's password
9) For Single User Account, select yes
10) For Remote IP, leave it at 0.0.0.0
11) For Transfer type, leave it at 64k
12) For Multilink, select Always (Use space bar to change)
13) Goto Press Enter to Confirm... have user press enter
14) Have user select yes to perform Internet test
15) Should end with an IPCP up, or connected

To find the IP address the router has obtained on dialup

1) From the main menu, goto System Maintenance
2) Goto System Status
3) On the right hand side, there should be a section for WAN, Chan1 IP Addr will show the IP address in use If a 2ch conenction has been established, Chan2 IP Addr should list the same IP address

To perform a loopback test

1) From the main menu, goto system maintenance
2) Goto Diagnostic
3) Goto ISDN Connection Test
4) A loopback test will be performed

To verify routing on the router

1) From the main menu, goto system maintenance
2) Goto Diagnostic
3) Look for TCP/IP, then goto Ping Host
4) Have user ping an ip address that return ping packets.
!! Note that user will not be able to ping any Earthlink servers !!
