Troubleshooting Netopia Routers

The best way of going about doing this is by going via Easy setup (from the main menu). Verify all parameters, then restart device (when prompted). After the router is back up, from the main menu, goto WAN configuration (if not there, then goto statistics, utilities, tests), then goto establish wan connection, press enter/return. Then press enter/return again for the profile name being used. Note whether the device established a connection, or if an ISDN cause code is given.

To find out what ip address the router has obtained upon connection

1) From the Main Menu, goto Quick View
2) Under Current ISDN/WAN Conenction status, look for the column heading that says More Info. It should start with NAT, then the ip address the router has obtained. You should be able to ping it.

To ping a web server (verify routing)

1) From the main menu, goto Utilities and Diagnostics (if not there, goto Statistics, Utilities, Tests)
2) Goto ping
3) Type in an ip address to ping (use a non Earthlink ip address), press enter/return
4) Goto Start Ping, press enter/return
5) It should send/receive 5 packets.

To perform a loopback test

For the R3100 series
From the main menu, goto Utilities and Diagnostics
Goto ISDN Switch Loopback Test
Press enter/return
Run Test Now should be highlighted, press enter/return
A loopback test will be performed

For the 400/600 series
